After the Vista disappointment, Windows 7 does offer a lot of hope for the next generation desktop. Many of your legacy programs can run on W7 without utilizing the virtual pc and an instance of XP. Just go to the User Account Controls (UAC) and turn off the notify.
Right click the program icon and check the boxes to run the program as administrator and in compatibility mode. There is even a "hack" that will get the old QuickBooks versions to run, but we don't recommend it. Just go ahead and upgrade to the 2010 version, it's worth it.
